She Stays

She Stays

She stays
trapped in her room
too loyal to the key.

Too, freedom, abandons her.

Freedom strays by her side
begging for a ride
to fathom its concept.

She ponders.

She ponders as she looks.

Ahead lies a glimpse of nostalgia
beckoning her call.

Will she answer the inner ring?

Or continue seeking external harmony
to calm her syncopated heart.

Hardly a breath draws near
that does not capture her sigh.

And so she sighs
to oblige…
the frolicking thoughts
that chastises her
as she masks the fact
…she has the key.

She’s had it all along.
